Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e. V. (DLR) Institut für CO2-arme Industrieprozesse Cottbus/Zittau

The DLR Energy Research makes central contributions to the decarbonized energy system of the future as well as for the phase of transformation. The focus is on sustainable energy supply for shaping the energy transition and achieving German and global climate goals. The portfolio includes renewable energy sources, energy conversion technologies, energy storage, and energy system analysis.

The Institute for CO2-low industrial processes expands the DLR's research portfolio with the new focus on CO2 reduction for industrial processes. This area of expertise will be expanded to meet the specific requirements and research needs for the decarbonization of large energy-intensive industrial sectors (power plants, steel production, cement industry, petrochemical industry, chemical industry, aluminum production). At the same time, the research topics of the institute complement the activities for sustainable electricity generation and storage.

In this way, the institute strengthens the DLR's competencies in a socially and economically highly relevant field of energy research and makes a significant contribution to the major challenge of significantly reducing CO2 and pollutant emissions from industrial processes and power plants in the coming decade.
