LEAG is the joint brand of Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG and Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG. Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG is responsible for lignite extraction in the four Lusatian open-cast mines Jänschwalde, Welzow-Süd, Reichwalde, and Nochten, as well as for the refinement of the raw material lignite in the Schwarze Pumpe industrial park. Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG is responsible for the power plant portfolio. The transport and logistics company Schwarze Pumpe mbH (TSS) and the planning and service company GMB are subsidiaries of the mining division.
LEAG stands for efficient lignite extraction and electricity generation. The timely recultivation of the open-cast mines creates a safe and sustainable post-mining landscape with diverse usage possibilities. With its expertise, LEAG aims to engage even more in the electricity grid of the future and contribute to the development of new technologies to manage the energy transition. As large and recognized training companies, the companies of LEAG secure their own skilled workforce and provide young people with a perspective. The technical training professions include, among others, electronics technician for operational technology, industrial mechanic, mechatronics engineer, and railway worker in operational service. In the commercial sector, the professions of industrial clerk and management assistant for office management are trained. As a dual study program, LEAG offers a Bachelor of Arts in the field of industry and a Bachelor of Science in the field of computer science.
