Lausitz applies to be the first Net Zero Valley in Europe
Lausitz has officially submitted its application to become Europe's first Net Zero Valley. Secretaries of State from Brandenburg and Saxony presented the initiative in Brussels. The goal is to develop the region into a leading location for clean technologies – focusing on battery and storage technologies, hydrogen, power grids, and energy efficiency. An accelerated approval process, sustainable infrastructure, and skilled workforce retention are intended to attract companies. The EU's Net Zero Valley initiative supports such regions to strengthen Europe's climate goals and technological independence. The final decision on the application is expected in the summer.
