IHK Cottbus and the Economic Development Agency Brandenburg cooperate with IHK Dresden and the Economic Development Agency Saxony GmbH in the MinGenTec network for the mining, power plant, and remediation industry
Since 2017, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Cottbus and the Economic Development Agency Brandenburg (WFBB) have been supporting companies in the mining, power plant, and remediation industry through the MinGenTec initiative to bring their expertise and technologies to international markets and to open up new business fields through innovations. At yesterday's 8th networking meeting with around 40 company representatives at the Dock³ competence center in the Schwarze Pumpe industrial park, the network was further strengthened by signing a cooperation agreement with IHK Dresden and the Economic Development Agency Saxony GmbH. In Berlin and Brandenburg, there are over 260 and around 150 small and medium-sized enterprises active in this sector in Saxony.
Marcus Tolle, Managing Director of IHK Cottbus: „So far, the initiative coordinated by the Economic Development Agency Brandenburg and IHK Cottbus has managed to bring together around 50 companies from Berlin, Brandenburg, and Saxony, as well as scientific institutions, in an active and highly sought-after network, highlighting potential cooperation and development opportunities. We are particularly pleased with the engagement of our Saxon partners. Together, we can provide the necessary pragmatic support for companies to network with relevant stakeholders both domestically and internationally to establish new value chains.“
Dr. Detlef Hamann, Managing Director of IHK Dresden: „Even if or precisely because politics in Saxony and Brandenburg are taking different paths in shaping structural change in Lusatia, close cooperation between the chambers and economic development agencies aimed at supporting and accompanying existing regional companies as well as attracting new economic players to the region is an important factor in this structural change process.“
Sebastian Saule, Managing Director of the Economic Development Agency Brandenburg (WFBB): „Marketing Lusatia has been a central undertaking for both Brandenburg and Saxony for several years. Now we are also pooling our efforts across state lines to tap into new markets and business fields for the companies in this strong industrial region. We expect strong impulses for the structural change in Lusatia from this.“
Thomas Horn, Managing Director of the Economic Development Agency Saxony (WFS): „With this cooperation agreement, the collaboration between Saxony and Brandenburg to support structural change in Lusatia is being placed on another pillar. We agree that thinking and acting must not stop at national borders if we want to advance the region. The focus here is specifically on opening up new business fields and new markets abroad for companies in mining and power plant technology. We have already succeeded in this with companies possessing expertise in ore mining and remediation in the Ore Mountains. Now we want to achieve this in the lignite region as well.“
