On Thursday, March 14, 2024, the initiative "Mining & Generation Technology - Made in Germany" (MinGenTec) had the opportunity to present Lusatia as a best-practice example of regional structural change during a panel via digital connection from Bogotá, Colombia.
The event took place as part of an information session organized by the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC/CEPAL) and the German Society for International Cooperation GmbH (GIZ), in preparation for a planned online course on the topic of "Reindustrialization in Colombia."
The request to participate in this panel reached MinGenTec thanks to the recommendation of our project cooperation partner Mario Kristen from Saxony Economic Development Corporation, who suggested us as competent speakers on this topic and facilitated the networking.
Dr. Christina Eisenberg, project manager of MinGenTec, gave a presentation later in the evening that provided the numerous participants of the panel with a comprehensive insight into the structural change region of Lusatia and the initiatives of MinGenTec - from the challenges to the perspectives and experiences.
The lively discussion, attended by about 120 participants, including company representatives, students, academic actors, and multipliers, testified to a strong interest in the topic. MinGenTec and Romina Laumann, advisor at the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH, therefore intend to continue the collaboration.
